Moving Forward in 2014

Categories: Church,Events,Uncategorized

The church of Jesus Christ is a movement.  In other words, it should be moving.  If it’s not moving it’s not  a movement.  That is why in 2014, with God’s help we are moving forward.  We are convinced that God has given our local church a compelling vision.  Our vision is to create a Christ-centered, multi-ethnic, intergenerational church.

Jesus is always first among our priorities.  Jesus is not just the reason for the season, but the reason for everything.  He created everything, reveals God to us and provides the way for our reconciliation with God.

God’s church should also reflect the community we live in.  We believe that a multi-ethnic church honors God and we ask you to help us fulfill the vision God has given to create a church that is diverse.

The church we are trying to create is intergenerational.  All ages should be integrated in the make up of the church as we serve one another and grow in the grace and knowledge of God.

If we love God and are passionate about our vision, we must reach people with His good news (the gospel).  In order to do that, we are going to reach out to our neighborhood and city.  We want to love our neighbors and neighborhood.  We want to be there to help meet people’s needs.  We want to love others as God has loved us.  We think that the church is God’s answer to the world’s problems.  We believe the church can change the world one life at a time and so we join with the church universal to accomplish this goal.

While our particular local church is small, with God’s help we are going to change that.  We are going to move forward with the life changing message of the gospel.  We hope that the people we meet and reach will be compelled to join us.  Maybe that is you.  Do you know God?  Do you know what your purpose is in this life?  Has God gifted you?  Are you using those gifts?   As a local church, we want to help you help others to reach people with the gospel.  There is nothing in this life that is more important than a relationship with God.  If that is true then we need to stop wasting time and move forward.  The only way you move forward is to move outside the “church” walls.

If you do not have a church home, would you be willing to join us in accomplishing God’s vision for our church?  If you are a member of our church, are you an active member?  If not we will assist you in serving.  Together we can accomplish the vision God has given us.  On the other hand, if we do nothing, nothing will happen and we will move backwards.  Movements are not movements if they move backwards.  That is not an option.  If we do our part, God will do His.

We must remember that God uses His people to be His mouth, hands and feet.  We are His co-workers.  He has entrusted this mission to us.

So, what is Apollos? And what is Paul? They are servants through whom you believed, and each has the role the Lord has given. 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8 Now the one who plants and the one who waters are equal, and each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. 9 For we are God’s co-workers. You are God’s field, God’s building. 10 According to God’s grace that was given to me, as a skilled master builder I have laid a foundation, and another builds on it. But each one must be careful how he builds on it, 11 because no one can lay any other foundation than what has been laid—that is, Jesus Christ.  1 Cor 3:5-11 (HCSB)

What’s stopping you from joining us?  We all have excuses, but excuses only stop movements.  I challenge all of us to stop making excuses and to start moving forward.  There is nothing more rewarding than to see people’s lives changed by God.  I am convinced God will honor our efforts if we are obedient to what He has called us all to do.  You can make a great impact for God by joining us in reaching our neighbors.

Let’s make 2014 a year of moving forward with the good news of God’s salvation.
